DescriptionWatauga County Parks and Recreation is seeking qualified individuals to serve as Junior Tennis Coach for the summer youth tennis camp. The desired candidate will have knowledge of tennis through playing and/or coaching experience. Junior Tennis Coach will work approximately 3—5 days per week, approximately 32 hours per week during the course of the program and during operating hours. The tennis program begins in early June and concludes at the end of July. During these dates, staff works Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8 am to 3 pm and some Tuesdays and Thursdays for matches. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and supervising tennis practice to include tennis instruction and educational games for a variety of ages (ages 5—15), a variety of skill levels (beginner to advanced), and with a variety of interest levels. Coaches must plan detailed activity blocks for the tennis camp structure. Staff is responsible for supervising campers at all times; ensure camp safety and program quality; and communicate effectively and respectfully with other staff, parents and participants. Coaches must maintain inventory and report equipment needs to head coach or Athletic Director. Coaches are responsible for setting up equipment and the court for a safe and productive tennis experience. Physical requirements may include lifting, carrying, crawling, bending, stooping, stretching, walking, running and playing tennis! A clean driving record is required, as staff may need to drive a 12 passenger van to/from tennis matches. Additional training is required. The ability to work with all demographics, and a friendly, personable, and service-oriented demeanor is required. CPR & 1st Aid certification highly recommended. A background check is required. Must be 16 years of age or older to apply. This is a seasonal, part-time position. Wage & Compensation Benefits: $10/hour.
