Watauga County is accepting applications for the position of Administrative Assistant I with the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office. Position performs intermediate skilled administrative work maintaining and coordinating office operations; and related work as apparent or assigned. Duties include processing and maintaining files and records for the office; including payroll, budget, accounts payable and account receivable. Position also prepares reports as necessary and maintains records and deposits in the County financial software program. Position may also answer phone calls to the Sheriff’s Office for officers and assist in collecting incident and arrest reports for attorneys and insurance agencies. High school diploma or GED required. Associates degree in business administration or related field, and considerable experience in administrative assistance or office management work, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. County benefit package includes medical, dental and vision insurance; membership with Local Governmental Employees’ Retirement System, 5% supplemental retirement contribution; paid holidays; vacation and sick leave.
